National Institute of Open School (NIOS) formerly National Open School is a national level education board in India, controlled and managed by the Government of India, It has an enrollment of about 1.5 million students at the secondary and senior secondary levels and enrolls about 350,000 students annually, making it the largest open school education system in the world.
Public examinations are held twice a year in April to May and October to November on dates decided by NIOS, for subject wise learning candidates are also eligible to appear through on-demand examinations at the secondary level and senior secondary level only in subjects admitted to NIOS
