Karnataka State Open School (KSOS) was established as an autonomous institution under the National Education Policy by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, KSOS offers academic courses at secondary and senior secondary level, it also offers elementary level courses through its Open Basic Education Programs (OBE).
Education Department and Vocational Education Department are two important departments of KSOS, these two departments develop educational programs and/or courses to enable learners to pursue their chosen course of learning, The Academic Department looks after the academic courses covering the entire continuum of schooling from primary level to pre-degree level, consistent inclusive learning with universal and flexible access to quality schooling and skill development through a vested NIOS authorized to certify in the Government of India.
Karnataka State Open School provides foundation education, students who complete foundation course appear for 10th class exams, pre-university education, vocational education etc. Candidates who pass six subjects, Govt allows them to join pre-university education, This course is designed for those who have passed Class X or equivalent examination from a recognized board and wish to continue their education in Senior Secondary Certification equivalent to 12th Class standard.
